What's the difference between H4CBD and THC?

H4CBD is a hydrogenated derivative of CBD. It is therefore a molecule artificially manufactured in the laboratory, supposedly more stable and effective than natural CBD. It is therefore not found naturally in cannabis plants. Created in the mid-twentieth century, H4CBD is more balanced than CBD, and is recognized for its many therapeutic benefits. It's making a comeback today, and is enjoying great popularity among CBD consumers. H4CBD contains THC, but in low doses, making it harmless. Indeed, most countries that tolerate its consumption have introduced a limit on the THC content of H4CBD-based products. As with CBD, this limit is often less than 1%. In France, for example, it is 0.3%.

THC, scientifically known as tetrahydrocannabinol, is the main component of cannabis. It is found naturally in cannabis plants, in both leaves and roots. Unlike CBD or H4CBD, THC is a psychoactive substance that acts on the nervous system, altering our perception, mood and motor skills. It is therefore an addictive substance, which is a big difference from H4CBD. It is responsible for most of the effects of cannabis. For these reasons, it is banned in many countries for both production and recreational use. It can, however, be found in some medicines.

THC, or cannabis, can be consumed in several different ways. It can be inhaled, by smoking, which is the most common method. It can also be vaporized, which is an alternative to combustion. You can eat it, by adding it to a meal or a drink... There are still many ways to consume cannabis.

Benefits of H4CBD vs THC

Although the effects of H4CBD are similar to those of CBD, this molecule affects different receptors in the nervous system. H4CBD has an influence on CB1 receptors, which affect our well-being, our emotions and the pain we feel. The effects are multiplied. Here are the benefits attributed to H4CBD consumption:

  • Soothes pain: an analgesic, H4CBD is considered a fairly effective painkiller and anti-inflammatory, so it can be taken by athletes and people suffering from joint pain, headaches, chronic pain...
  • Improves sleep: it soothes sleep disorders, enabling consumers to sleep better and longer.
  • Reduces anxiety: H4CBD acts as a relaxant. It therefore reduces consumer anxiety and stress. It even seems to play a role in depression.
  • Improves mental capacity: promotes concentration.

All these virtues contribute to the overall well-being of H4CBD consumers, who can enjoy the benefits without any harmful repercussions.

THC is the element responsible for many of the effects of cannabis. As a psychotropic, it acts directly on our psyche, giving us a feeling of euphoria. It affects both our brain and our organs. In fact, in addition to this sensation of deep relaxation, THC also has physical repercussions, such as red eyes and a dry throat. Some people use THC primarily for the sense of well-being and relaxation it brings. In fact, cannabis increases the concentration of dopamine in the brain, the substance that gives pleasure. It is also this reaction that promotes addiction. Here are the virtues of THC:

  • Pain relief: soothes aches and pains and acts as an anti-inflammatory.
  • It stimulates the appetite.
  • Relaxing: reduces tension and helps consumers feel more at peace.
  • Better sleep: reduces sleep disorders by promoting relaxation

THC, because of the damage it causes, is absolutely not recommended for recreational use. However, it can be used as a remedy on certain patients. In particular, it can help cancer patients by reducing the effects of chemotherapy, or help give people suffering from anorexia an appetite.

But the main difference between the benefits of H4CBD and THC are the consequences and side effects of their consumption.

Are the side effects of H4CBD and THC different?

No really in-depth studies have been carried out on H4CBD, so we can't be sure. However, don't worry, H4CBD consumption is not dangerous. Some unpleasant side effects may occur, such as nausea, concentration problems, dry mouth... However, this is absolutely not a toxic product. Side effects are rare, and if they do occur, they are minor and do not affect long-term well-being.

However, remain cautious, because as we've seen, H4CBD and its repercussions are still unclear and little studied. If you're already undergoing medical treatment, or if you're pregnant, we advise against taking CBD. The side effects could be more serious in these cases. If you have any doubts or questions, don't hesitate to consult your doctor.

We also recommend that you pay close attention to the origin of the products you buy. Try to find a quality supplier, such as Pure Extract CBD, whose products are fully traceable, laboratory-tested and certified.

Finally, try to avoid taking too much H4CBD, but also activities that require a lot of concentration and safety immediately after taking it, such as driving. So it's best to take H4CBD, in whatever form, in the evening or at weekends, when you don't have any obligations immediately afterwards.

THC does not cause death by overdose, even when taken in high doses. However, THC remains a toxic molecule that can cause serious damage, above all to the brain. Its main difference from H4CBD is that, like any drug, it creates a dependency in the user. According to some studies, THC could even cause cancer, as it acts directly on the genes. The dangers of this substance are many and varied.

First, you may experience short-term side effects:

  • Physical effects: red eyes, dry throat
  • Loss of balance and more difficult movements. Reduced motor coordination.
  • Increased heart rate.
  • Restricted brain capacity: reaction time becomes much longer.
  • Panic: although THC is supposed to be relaxing, it can also cause panic reactions.

Secondly, you expose yourself to long-term risks:

  • If you consume cannabis by inhalation, you expose yourself to risks such as cardiovascular disorders and lung cancer.
  • THC dependency: this addiction also affects your mental health, sometimes leading to depression after years of use.
  • Restricted brain capacity: you have difficulty memorizing things and concentrating.

THC concentration differs according to the method of consumption. Cannabis herb contains between 4% and 9%, while resin can contain up to 30%!

Legal differences between H4CBD and THC

Legislation regarding H4CBD is still unclear. However, like CBD, its side effects are very mild, and it is neither addictive nor psychoactive, so it is unlikely to be banned. H4CBD is obviously banned in countries that prohibit CBD. But in countries that allow it, it is permitted to consume it. However, the same rule applies as for CBD: the THC limit must be respected (0.3% in France).

THC, on the other hand, is strictly forbidden. Whatever its form, it is not authorized for consumption, and it is detectable (in the blood during a police check, for example). However, some countries have authorized its use for therapeutic purposes, i.e. in a controlled and professional way for certain patients and certain diseases. This is the case in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, etc. Many other countries are following this process, legalizing THC little by little, but only for medical purposes. The Netherlands goes even further, authorizing the recreational use of cannabis, and therefore THC, in "coffee shops", always with a certain limit.

H4CBD: the alternative to THC

Of course, we don't recommend consuming THC. While some of the effects may seem pleasant, the repercussions are too strong and can make you addicted. That's why, as hemp enthusiasts, we recommend H4CBD if you want to enjoy the benefits of THC without its side effects. The benefits of H4CBD are quite pronounced(more so than CBD), so should suit regular users. Yet it is psychoactive and non-addictive. So, at Pure Extract CBD, we offer you products with therapeutic effects that are safe and non-addictive.

What's more, H4CBD can suit everyone, whatever their taste! In fact, we offer a wide range of H4CBD products to suit all tastes. You can choose H4CBD oil to put in your dishes, your favorite drinks, or to massage onto your body. You also have the discreet, gourmet option with H4CBD candies that melt in your mouth and relax you in an instant. You can also choose H4CBD resin, or one of our cartridges to vaporize your product with your vape pen.

H4CBD therefore appears to be a legal alternative to the addictive, toxic and illegal THC. If you'd like to find out more, take a look at our range of H4CBD products.

For a first-time user, we recommend CBD, which is less potent. You'll then have plenty of time to discover your own preferences, whether in terms of size, flavour or product type.
